Supplier cycles

A relationship maintained through change.

Adrian Sutherland · Version 1.0 · · © 2005–2026

A changed service promise

If a future partner shortens its support hours, the cancellation path may no longer meet the provider’s commitment. That is a business and operating change even if its interface remains identical.

Process area Working result Feedback
Visioning Supply strategy and required capabilities. New need, dependency risk or market change.
Transforming Selection, agreement, onboarding and migration decisions. Trial failure, unresolved handover or new cost.
Operating Current performance, incidents, usage and relationship ownership. Breached expectation, changed service or support limits.
Governing Responsibilities, controls, review and exit arrangements. Changed agreement, unacceptable risk or decision to replace.

Methodology configuration

Supplier and service reviews can share records, with the responsible commercial owner involved when obligations change. Use Methodology configuration to map terms, records and reviews to your own approach.

Dials

Use a small service path to test a proposed relationship where feasible. Review incidents and changes to commitments when they occur, and allow time to act within notice periods. Use planned meetings to review the relationship. Coordinate business, commercial, security and service owners. Agree who handles ordinary requests and who can change obligations. Automate observations where their meaning is agreed. Let recurring failures reopen the supply strategy.
