Channel cycles

Keeping channels consistent.

Adrian Sutherland · Version 1.0 · · © 2005–2026

A change to an offer

When replacement-course rules change, the online page, call script and intermediary guidance may all need updating. An inconsistent old message can continue to affect users after the software release.

Process area Working result Feedback
Visioning Intended reach, mix of channels and common service meaning. Unmet needs or an unsuitable route.
Transforming Tested interactions, staff preparation and migration of open work. Confusing state, lost context or inaccessible interaction.
Operating Current content, support and channel performance. Repeated contact, delayed messages or failed handovers.
Governing Owners, agreement rules, accessibility and consistency checks. Changed policy or conflicting versions of service information.

Methodology configuration

One release or service review can coordinate several channel changes if their owners and acceptance checks are included. Use Methodology configuration to map terms, records and reviews to your own approach.

Dials

Choose a small complete journey for a trial, including its assisted path. Coordinate the people maintaining each route. Review the service when content or policy changes affect it, as well as at agreed intervals. Automated tests can compare how the case changes; observed use helps establish whether people understand them. A repeated handover failure may reopen the channel strategy.
