## Purpose and scope

Develop I1, the cancellation case, for the business trial D1. O1 requires a
timely resolution accepted by the learner. P1 requires the learner's agreement;
R1 requires continuous case ownership and preservation of agreement through
handovers. Scope: internal courses. Partner cases and refunds are escalated.

## Meaning and identity

ID-DEF1 defines learner agreement as acceptance of a specific alternative for
the cancelled booking. Record the alternative, acceptance time, recording
person and a reference to the supporting interaction. An offer alone does not
establish acceptance.

Each case has a stable case identifier and refers to one cancelled booking.
The trial allows at most one active case for that booking. A repeat cancellation
message is linked to the existing case, with its source reference retained.

## Relationships and rules

A booking identifies a learner and course occurrence. Each active case has
one current owner assignment; past assignments remain in history. A case can
have several agreement versions but at most one current agreement. Each
agreement refers to one alternative. A confirmation must identify the current
agreement and resulting booking before the case becomes resolved.

A superseding agreement retains a link to its predecessor and the reason for
change. A correction that invalidates confirmation reopens the affected case.
A proposed owner becomes current only on acceptance of the transfer.

## Representation and ownership

The service owner approves meaning, a steward maintains definitions and
recurring quality issues, and RO1 maintains each case. One person may hold
several roles. ID-D1 proposes a shared case register and linked history; the
booking system remains authoritative for bookings. The dictionary defines
logical fields for this arrangement. A later physical design must map them
to actual forms, messages and storage.

Access is limited by assigned responsibilities. Source references must allow
an authorised colleague to check agreement; recipients receive the information
needed for their task. Detailed permissions and recovery arrangements remain
to be agreed before a real trial.

## Methodology configuration

The service brief holds O1/P1/R1. A glossary holds ID-DEF1; the dictionary holds
field rules. The case register and its history carry values. Definition changes
come to the service review; individual corrections follow the accepted rules.
An entity model could describe the same concepts and relationships.

## History and next review

Definition Version 1.0, September 2026; proposed for the fictional trial.
Business finding L1 would add partner acceptance and confirmation responsibility,
with the service owner deciding the extension before it is used. Current
agreement, case identity and internal ownership remain required.
